“H T Smith incorporated his farming business in 1952, creating H. T. Smith (Farms) Limited. The company remains in the same family ownership more than 70 years after it was established. However, the business has now significantly diversified and in addition to farming a significant element of the business is involved with let commercial and residential property.

The business is based from Broadfields Farm, on the edge of the village of Rayne, in Essex. This farm was originally purchased by HT Smith’s father in 1928. Therefore the family’s interests at Broadfields Farm are approaching 100 years, with the fifth generation of the family now involved in the business.

This long term involvement has enabled us to invest into buildings so that we can let good quality accommodation, whether this is to be your home or your business premises. We are also keen to ensure that our business is an important part of the local community where we have such long term roots.”
